SLOW down baby

You’re going too fast.

One of my strangest habits is that I collect watches but I never wear them; I must have some strange relationship with the idea of time.  I am completely aware of this habit and yet I am still drawn to watches and I keep buying them. Strange right? Or maybe not so. Time to me is luxury – so maybe this explains my relationship with luxury as well. Enter SLOW watch co.

SLOW watch company has done something pretty revolutionary with watches, the Slow Jo watch – the removed the minute hand and the second hand, leaving only one single hand by which to tell time on a 24 hour dial. What? I can hear your mind blowing up right now. How silly? How will you know the exact time? You won’t and that is the point. You can still read the time precisely enough, just not every second. And it doesn’t hurt that the watches are quite handsome.

The watches feature a Swiss made GMT Quartz movement, 100 Meter water resistance and extra hardened K1 mineral glass, a range of stainless steel cases including silver, gold and black are fitted with straps in metal, antique leather, nylon or canvas. Prices range from 230 to 260 Euros. And worth every penny, after all time is luxury.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
