Frozen Strawberry Boozy Realness

Summer is just around the corner. So why not make a classic frozen strawberry daiquiri?

The secret to a delicious frozen strawberry daiquiri is skipping all that ice you often add into frozen cocktails. Sure the ice is needed to create that slushy frozen consistency but it can water down the flavour. So the trick is to use frozen strawberries. Not just any frozen strawberries, I recommend picking the freshest local strawberries from your local farmers market (or self pick farm). Wash them, remove the stems and flash freeze them to lock in the flavour…the freshly frozen berries will stand in for the ice cubes.

Recipe:

  • 4 cups freshly frozen strawberries
  • Fresh juice of 1 lime
  • 4 oz light rum
  • 5 oz simple syrup

Here’s how:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high-powered blender. I recommend using the smoothie function for this cocktail. You don’t need the ice crushing feature on this one because the frozen strawberries aren’t as hard to crush as ice cubes.
  2. Blend on smoothie setting. You want it to be a smooth, silky consistency. Easy to drink.
  3. Pour into glass.
  4. Garnish with lime (and even mint if you like)
  5. Enjoy.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.
