For some reason when summer hits, most men seem to lose all sense of style. Out come the bad flip flops (and unkempt toenails), tank top they have saved from their college days, and the board shorts. Now I am all for people making their own choices for their personal style – but I must stress choices! This isn’t about just wearing the default you found in your closet or on the sale rack. Do you really think you look great in those baggy long board shorts? Have you even thought about it? Or are you just worried that wearing shorter shorts might make people think your gay? Well if that’s the case, you have more issues than we can cover here in a swimwear article….but back to the shorts. No matter the man, all men look better in a pair of shorts that come above the knee and are slightly fitted. So here is your primer for swim shorts for summer 2018.
- Look for a pair with a 5.5″ inseam or so – they should definitely come above the knee for shorter men and hit mid thigh on even the tallest. Show off those muscular legs boys.
- Pick a pair with a great print (and pair it with a neutral top for off the beach)
- Elastic waistbands are more comfortable and flattering if you have a few extra pounds.
- Don’t be scared to wear your printed swim shorts with a shirt out. It’s a great way to update your look.
- Styling Tip: If you like your shorts even short, get them hemmed. Or roll the waist band over once.
