I am a big fan when products take on environmental causes and good design. There is a lot of product out that does good but doesn’t do ‘good’ design. Enter the Jenga Ocean.

That’s right, your favourite party game has been re-designed. Jenga® Ocean™ is a collaboration between Bureo and Jenga. This is the first board game made from 100% recycled fishing nets. Each game is made from over 25 square feet of nets proudly sourced through Bureo’s Net Positiva recycling program.

The process begins with turning the collected nets into black plastic pellets and then pouring them into the Jenga tile forms. Select tiles feature threatened marine animal block designs – hand-drawn and inspired by the sea, the artwork behind Jenga Ocean is the work of Lake Buckley – a surfer, designer, artist, and explore. I love the deep black colour and the sketches.

Players of Jenga® Ocean are encouraged to ‘Save the Animals’ through special edition rules.  Learning about the damaging impact of discarded fishing nets, which account for 10% of plastic pollution in the ocean, players will gain an understanding of how discarded nets are harming marine animals, and learn about what they can do to help. All packaging 100% recycled and recyclable. Retail, $49.99

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
