I am always up for trying out new skincare products. Sure, I have a few of my go-to favourites (which actually switch up seasonally) but I am always on the lookout for something new – something better. So I was happy when the fine folks over at Jack Black sent me the Deep Dive Glycolic Facial Cleanser.
The Deep Dive Glycolic Facial Cleanser works well as an everyday/ everynight cleanser. It is a powerful, multi-functional cleanser that washes away dead skin cells, pore-clogging oil and build up. But what I loved most about it was that it didn’t leave my skin feeling completely stripped. It wasn’t overly drying like some cleansers. Perhaps that is due to the clay content. After using it on the regular, my skin felt fresher, smoother, and even firmer. Dare I say, even younger? Now there is an added trick with this cleanser that I appreciated – you can also use it as a mask. For a more deep down cleaning, just apply a nickel-sized amount to dry face and evenly apply using a circular motion, avoiding eye area and lips. Allow to dry approximately 5 minutes. Rinse.
Now down to the nitty gritty bits – what’s in this stuff?
Glycolic Acid – A highly effective chemical exfoliant removes dead skin cell build up for noticeably softer, firmer, clearer skin and also helps to prevent ingrown hairs.
Volcanic Ash – Packed with high concentrations of over ten natural, antioxidant minerals that work to restore, repair and smooth skin and help regulate moisture levels.
Kaolin Clay – A natural clay that draws out skin impurities, oil and dirt, plus helps control oiliness due to its natural absorption properties.
Oatmeal – A natural exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, soaks up excess oil, and soothes skin.
Vitamin E – A powerful antioxidant, it also soothes skin and provides natural moisture necessary for overall skin health. Recommended for normal, combination and oily skin.
Verdict:
I would use this as my everyday everynight cleanswer during the winter months – not sure if it will be ‘strong’ enough for me during the hot sweaty summer months but we will have to see. I do love that is feels good on my sensitive skin. And that it is fragrance-free – I hate skincare with fragrance in it (competes with my own scents). Also of not: it is Paraben-free and completely vegan.
