I love VANS but they sometimes do too many collaborations that are unnecessary. This isn’t the case. In celebration of China’s Year of the Rooster, Vans has joined forces with Shanghai-based designer Kim Kiroic to create a capsule collection. Consisting of six classic silhouettes and using multiple fabrics, the project draws inspiration from the lifecycle of a rooster (from egg to full grown cock) with nods to punk rock culture.
From nude braided leather (emulating a roster’s egg) to soft yellow flannel (just like a baby chick), this collection has everyone covered. And while the leather checkerboard styles are an easy buy in (classic VANS), my personal favourite is the white leather Slip-On with a custom three-color fringe kilt.
Vans’s 2016 Year of the Rooster capsule will drop in select locations on December 16, followed by a broader release on December 20.
