CADET is a brand that has slowly been gaining momentum. The menswear brand, founded and designed by Raul Arevalo and Brad Schmidt, finds its inspiration and aesthetic from classic military uniforms but they give it a modern twist with slimmer cuts and playful proportions. CADET is a all about clean precision; a crisp aesthetic that honors classic silhouettes while continuing to push menswear design forward with innovative fabrications and techniques. This is the kind of menswear that makes you excited again to wear military.
Raul, who studied menswear design at F.I.T., transformed the fit and construction of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel for Target, Nordstrom, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Steve and Barryʼs, Converse and Club Monaco. While Raul is the design side of the business, Brad manages the retail operations and contributes to the production side through sourcing, production planning and business development. This is the classic duo that seems to work in fashion (creative meets business).
My personal favourites: check out the Flight Cargo Pants (yes, I said cargo pants),the Flight Suit, and the Admiral Coat in Olive for starters. And here’s the kicker, they are all priced well.
CADET is all made in the USA and is available at their three retail locations:Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the East Village and the West Village.
