I normally never drink red wines from Canada – there I admitted it. I am a bad Canadian but I also don’t like reds out of the US either. But Rennie ‘G’ changed my attitude about all that. This is the best combination of a full bodied Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc with an equal part blend of Merlot grapes. It feels like the best of classic French Cab mashed up with a South American Malbec. This is a lavish and showy red wine with big, concentrated layers of black currants, cherries, raspberries, earth and spices. Serve it at your next dinner party and be surprised when people, say what? This is a Canadian red? Yup, and damn proud of it.
