Arquiste has been causing quite the stir in the niche artisanal fragrance arena over the recent past and for good reason – the brand makes great fragrances. What I like so much about Arquiste is it is a tight knit team behind all of their fragrances. It is a true artisanal brand and not part of a larger conglomerate. The mastermind behind the team, Creative Director, Carlos Huber has taken his training as an architectural historian/restorer and applied that to the world of fragrance. In order to do so, he has enlisted two of the top perfumers, Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Yann Vasnier. So far they have launched eight fragrances since 2011. One of my favourites is L’Etrog Acqua. $190
L’Etrog Acqua is crisp and citrusy thanks to cedrat, lemon, mandarin, petitgrain, and myrtle top notes. Middle notes: vetiver, orris and patchouli base. Base notes: cedar, vetiver, and labdanum. But what does that all mean to you? The perfect balance of woody and citrus; the perfect summer scent. What I love about this citrus based scent is that last longer than the usual four hours (most citrus based scents dissipate quickly).
