This just might be one of the best cocktails I have ever had – hands down. Trust me, after the first sip you will know why they named the drink Jesus H Christ. The mixture of Pear, cardamom and habañero is the perfect balance of sweet, fresh and spicy. If you can’t make it to Maurepas Foods in New Orleans, here’s the recipe to try at home.
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz of Old Tom Gin
- .5 oz lemon juice
- .5 oz of cardamom/habañero infused simple syrup,
- .25 oz Cocchi Americano
- .25 oz of Belle de Brillet
- Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice
- Shake
- Pour
- Drink
- Repeat
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup whole cardamom
- 1 seeded habañero pepper
- 1 cups sugar
- Bring water, habañero and cardamom to a boil.
- Stir in sugar until fully dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
- Keep in the refrigerator for 3 days, then remove the cardamom.
