I was recently part of an intervention. Or rather the victim of one. A friend wanted to have a talk with me about always wearing so much black. She felt my colourful personality was not being reflected in what I wear. Obviously she sometimes forgets about my cold black heart.

But I thought maybe I should check it out – colour not my heart. And I stumbled upon the recently launched menswear branch of Trina TurkMr Turk, designed by Trina’s husband Jonathan Skow. It has the same print forward sensibilities as the mainline and always makes me feel like it’s summer. It is dapper California style all the way.  And yes there is far more print or colour than I would normally wear but the printed shorts and swimwear make for a great pop in your wardrobe. Mr Turk shines at slim shorts and swimwear. Will I stop wearing mostly black (or navy blue)? Nope but I will add some Turk into my wardrobe.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
