I have always been a fan of Marcel Wanders, his playfulness with design is refreshing. Unfortunately, I don’t love him enough ( or have the time) to jump on a plane and fly to his first large-scale exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. If you are in Amsterdam from February 1st- June 15th 2014, you should check it out. Not only does the exhibit focus on his work but the exhibit itself was designed and curated by Wanders. Don’t know Wanders? You probably do and didn’t even know about it. He is works in the fields of interior design, product design and art direction…
Know him now? Well if you still have no idea, I insist you buy Marcel Wanders Pinned Up and learn. This book explores his rich oeuvre of designs from the last 25 years. But Marcel Wanders Pinned Up goes beyond just an overview of his works, it also explores his drives and inspirations while offering a historical and theoretical context for his work. The tome covers even further by providing insights into the production process of a number of his ground-breaking projects with essays by renowned authors in the field of design. And for those us who sometimes just like to look at pretty pictures, there are many illustrations and images of his projects. This book is a great addition to anyone’s Design Library.
