You made it through Christmas and Boxing Day shopping, you don’t have time to make cocktails but you do have time to drink. This is your bonus drink – the PickleBack. The history of this ‘drink’ is unknown but it is believed to have been created in a hipster bar in Brooklyn NY (which could been any number of bars – aren’t they all hipster bars?). Personally, I first encountered a PickleBack at Breslin in the ACE Hotel in NYC and have been a big fan ever since. They sound terrible but trust me there are few things better than the burn of the whiskey followed by salty coolness of the brine.
- 1oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
- 1oz pickle brine (chilled) homemade is best
1. Pour Jameson Irish Whiskey into a shot glass.
2. Pour the chilled pickle brine into a shot glass.
3. Take a shot of Jameson.
4. Immediately chase it with a shot of pickle brine.
5. Repeat.
