It’s that time of year when everyone has to travel, and the dreaded packing for travel. I have a few rules of my own but I thought it would be interesting to see what some of the designers think are the rules for traveling with style. Enter the boys behind Public School. I know you have heard me wax on about my love of this brand but there is a reason and it goes beyond the clothes they design. It’s their approach to life that in turns informs their designs. So if you are going to travel with style, follow these rules.
1. Never stop developing your point of view. Protect it with all you have because it’s all you have.
2. Black is the new black. (if you don’t listen to me, perhaps you will listen to them)
3. Know your body and understand fit. Not everything looks good on everyone.
4. When traveling, stuff your socks into your shoes to save space and, more importantly, to keep the shape of your brand new kicks.
5. Pack light and always wear your best socks on the flight.
6. It’s nice—but not necessary—if all your luggage matches, but it should definitely never match your belt, your shoes, or your wallet.
7. Music is the key to life—and travel. Make sure to always pack headphones! Over the ear, noise canceling, battery-less ones preferred, please.
8. Three staples for every trip: White mini-collared shirt, black T-shirt, and black overdyed PS-13 skinny 5-pocket jeans.
9. Clothes should either change or augment the way you already feel. A well-dressed man is a confident man.
10. Don’t spend more time thinking about your outfit than reading this list. (by far my favourite, and how I live life)
