I will admit that I have never been a huge fan of Gant Rugger – it’s fine, but not something I would necessarily buy. It was often just too Americana preppy for my liking (spending my childhood in RL may have caused irreparable damage) and to be perfectly honest, a carbon copy of every other menswear brand obsessed with Americana Prep. But there it a change afoot at Rugger. Until very recently, the Rugger collection was designed by Christopher Bastin (who will now be creative director of all things Gant) but the design reins have now been handed over to Fiffi Hallstensson. And the change is refreshing – I want this shit now. The pre-Spring collection stays close to the Rugger roots but adds bolds prints. It throws a bit of a dandy into the works.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
