The Field Jacket

I have always considered The Field Jacket a menswear staple. If you don’t own one, you better get on it.

The field jacket is one of those styles that was originally conceived out of utility; the field jacket signature is its two hip and two chest pockets which were perfect for storing everything a military man needed. Originally issued by the US Army as the M-43 jacket; its original purpose was to keep soldiers warm and dry during World War II (where it got updated to the M-65 jacket). What I love about it? It has enough pockets for everything I need to get me through my day – smart phone, wallet, lip balm, keys…

The Spring-Summer 2016 runways were packed with new and classic takes on this piece of functional outerwear. My two favourites are posted above (high and low) – keep it classic with J. Crew  on the left(or an army surplus store) and change it up with some Saint Laurent on the right.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
