Pigalle x NIKE

Another week, another fucking collaboration. Makes you wonder if no one works alone anymore. Some of these capsule collections are amazing, others feel like a lame marketing ploy with product they could have come up with on their own. Most of these collaborations fall somewhere in the middle – Pigalle x Nike is no different. Amazing kicks, mediocre clothing.

Sitting somewhere in the overcrowded niche market between high-tech sportswear and luxurious fashion, that every brand seems to occupy these days, the Pigalle trainers feature high fashion patina leather and a “thicker sole with extra layers and lunar insole cushioning for comfort and knee protection.” I love everything aged, apparently the aged leather look “symbolizes the used and scuffed trainers worn by players on basketball courts.”

The collection drops at Dover Street Market on April 26.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
