This is not a TOTE

In a world where plastic bags have become sinful, it is interesting to note how many reusable bags we now produce. Cheaply made, throw-away style tote bags; every store hocks them to you. Is this any better?

Maybe it’s time to invest in a tote that will last you a lifetime and actually gives back. Don’t worry, this isn’t me getting all socially conscious on you ( I already was, by the way) and suggesting you buy a bag simply because it supports developing economies. Nope. I am suggesting you buy this bag because it’s beautiful. This carry-all tote is made of ruggedly and beautifully distressed leather. It looks like something you have owned for generations. And quite frankly, it’s nicer than a lot of designer shit out there. Any man would be proud to carry this bag (and you don’t even have to brag about how it supports female artisans in developing countries – only assholes do that – gentleman keep that information to themselves).

Crafted in partnership with a newly formed business focused on supporting women. Empowering at risk women in Addis Ababa to thrive. $188 from Lily and Raven.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
