Retro Club

Much of my childhood was spent in Ralph Lauren – I was preppy to the max. I even remember getting in trouble for climbing trees in dress shirts and, in turn, tearing them. It seems Ralph was never made to be climbed in. But by age ten I had discovered Club Monaco, which would come to shape most of my teen years. This was Club Monaco back in the day, when it was Prada meets Jil Sander minimalism. A sea of navy blues and blacks. It was heaven. I digress.

Club Monaco is re-releasing their signature logo sweatshirt. I owned this baby in 10 colours back in the late 80s. This may just be the only ‘designer’ sweatshirt I would consider rocking these days, especially since it doesn’t have a $500 price tag. You can get your retro nostalgia when they release on December 9th.

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
