what’s up doc

I still remember the day I got my first pair of Doc Martens – I was a ten year-old preppy kid who felt it was time to rock some #1460 8-hole boots. I would leave the #1461 3-hole shoes for the rest of the preppies who wanted an edge but not me.

Grunge hadn’t yet officially hit, and I never went fully grunge, but I had to have those boots. I wore them daily. I even managed to get my friends to jump on the Doc’s bandwagon. Eventually, even my mother had to get a pair.  Since then Dr Marten has been a constant in my life and a staple in my shoe wardrobe (even after my fair-weather friends had traded them in for the latest trend) . You can’t go wrong with the black 8-hole boots; I pull them out all the time. And now that the 90s are back, you should too.

But I am tempted to diversify…

Christian has been a cultural and style junkie since the age of 6; while most kids were swiping cookies, he was swiping his grandfathers' Patek Philippe. Raised to appreciate art, fashion, design and  literature (yeah, this one actually reads) by a single mother fondly called Jackie-O. Christian quickly went from childhood cultural capital thief to academia protégé. Referred to as the cat's meow by some, too clever by half by others, Christian eschewed the academic life and ran away to join the circus -the fashion circus. Several well-appointed positions later and a career on the rise would be most people's dream but it was time to say fuck off and start all over again.

This is Christian Dare Unedited.
